April News Splash

bright-pink-piggy-bank-boughtWelcome
April brought the budget and, with it, more spending cuts for local government.  With the relentless emphasis on efficiency savings it’s good to see how some Learning Pool customers can demonstrate strong return on investment cases for their e-learning.

Some of these customers will be showcasing their e-learning activity at the Public Sector Learning conference on Wednesday 20th May.  We’re also announcing the arrival of our new Return on Investment calculator.

Public  Sector Learning Conference – Fresh Ideas for Tomorrow’s People
Plans are being finalised for the conference on Wednesday 20th May and the event promises to deliver some sparkling speaker performances, magnificent Masterclasses and stunning e-learning showcases.

We still have some room for extra delegates so book your place now.  See the full agenda here.

Five reasons why you should attend:

1.  Be enthused by how Web2.0 can help you make more efficiencies and service improvements
2.  Take part in Master classes to learn tools and techniques to take home with you
3.  Be inspired by local authorities who are using social media and making a difference
4.  Learn how Web2.0 technologies can help to build an engaged, diverse and modern workforce
5.  Network with over 100 like-minded public sector colleagues; swap stories, issues and business cards

We’re hosting a Learning Pool Eve of Conference party on Tuesday 19th May with an Irish theme.  We’d love to see you there so please RSVP to breda@learningpool.com.

E-learning on National Learn at Work day 2009
This year’s National Learn at Work day on Thursday 14th May, part of the Adult Learners’ week, will see the promotion of e-learning within two public sector organisations.

Norfolk County Council and Tower Hamlet Homes are using the day to launch their brand new e-learning programmes.  Jonathan Newcombe from Norfolk says ”

Jonathan says “We’ve got some great events and activities planned to launch our corporate e-learning programme, starting with our Welcome to Norfolk Induction course.

“We’re fortunate to have a solid learning culture here at Norfolk CC.  Learning is valued and we get high profile support from our CE and Chief Officers’ Group who recently took part in an hour long Skills for Life test on English and Maths to demonstrate their commitment to our Skills Pledge.”
