Equality & Diversity, What’s the point?

Diversity training is not just about what race, culture, nationality or ethnicity is, it is about exploring our value system and how we respond to others who do not share our values or beliefs.
In attending diversity training, participants will understand the full meaning of diversity, develop an appreciation of how we are different as well as develop skills in responding to people who are different from ourselves.
The benefits of attending diversity training are many and varied. It allows us to examine our own values and appreciate that not every person shares the same value and belief system. In attending this training, participants will benefit by:
• Increasing their awareness about what makes us different;
• Increase understanding in relation to cultural competence;
• Understand that it is not because someone is from another country that makes him or her different to ourselves;
• Experience communication where there is not a shared belief and value system.
